 Responsible government acknowledges and affirms the role of the citizen in the democratic governance process by supporting civil civic discourse; serving the public interest; promoting governmental accountability through transparency of operation; providing ready access to information necessary for informed participation; developing and maintaining ethical organizational units; being exemplars of personal integrity; continually striving for the highest standards of professional excellence; and, serving as advocates of sustainable growth for the long-term benefit of the community.
MERG believes that responsible government is an essential element for fostering environmentally sustainable growth. The latter is a delicate balance of stewardship of our natural resources and planned uses of them.
The past year, as in previous years, MERG has sought to foster both environmentally sustainable growth and responsible government underpinned by the values of accountability, equity, honor, integrity, stewardship and transparency. MERG has spent the past year, as in years past, working with the elected and appointed officials of Mariposa County to promote public policies which affirm the perspective that the environment is our economy and our life support system. |
